As I delve deeper into the AI marketplace, I’m left wondering – why haven’t we seen more acquisitions of AI startups by tech giants? Microsoft invested in OpenAI, Google has Gemini, and Meta made a significant investment, but what’s next?
Companies like Claude or Midjourney seem like prime targets for acquisition by huge players like Amazon, Apple, Oracle, or Adobe, who want to jumpstart their AI efforts. These giants don’t have much to show for their AI endeavors yet, and I assume they’d love to be major players in the AI market.
So, what’s holding them back? Is it a matter of strategy, valuation, or something else entirely? I think we’ll start seeing more acquisitions in the future, but it’s interesting to consider the possible reasons behind the current lack of activity.
Do you think we’ll see a surge in AI startup acquisitions soon?
