Have you ever wondered what happens to your classmates after graduation? A Reddit user, /u/Synfinium, decided to find out by creating an interactive map showing where the Class of 2021 from a Long Island high school went after graduation.
The map is pretty cool, with individual dots representing each college attended. When you hover over a dot, it shows how many people from the class went to that specific college. It’s a great way to visualize the data, and I’m impressed that the creator was able to put it together using Python.
What’s interesting is that the map raises some questions about how to best display this kind of data. For example, should the dots be color-coded to show the number of students attending each college? Or would that make the map too confusing?
Regardless, it’s a great effort, and I’m curious to hear from you – what do you think is the best way to display this kind of data? Would you want to see more interactive maps like this for other classes or schools?
