As someone who’s spent countless hours digging through real estate resources, I know how frustrating it can be to find reliable data. That’s why I’m excited to share a game-changing dataset that breaks down real estate metrics by zip code.
This comprehensive collection includes data on:
- Home prices (average, median, valuation) by bedroom
- Rent prices by bedroom
- Listing counts, days on market, and year-over-year percentage changes
- Mortgage data (originations, first lien, second lien, debt-to-income, etc.)
- Affordability metrics and mortgage costs
- Basic demographics (age, college education, poverty, race/ethnicity)
What’s even better is that this data is available for approximately 25,000 zip codes in the USA, covering around 90% of the population.
I’ve built a tool to display this data, but the ultimate goal is to make it free and accessible to anyone who wants it. Imagine being able to download and explore real estate data for your desired area with just a few clicks.
The data is organized by metropolitan area, and you can even export it for further analysis. To make it even more convenient, I’m working on setting up an S3 bucket to host the data, including historical datasets.
Before I finalize the setup, I wanted to give you a sneak peek and invite your feedback and suggestions. This is a community-driven project, and I’m excited to hear your thoughts on how to make this data more useful for everyone.
