As a self-proclaimed culture vulture, I was thrilled to stumble upon a treasure trove of free museums in New York City. But, I quickly realized that finding these hidden gems wasn’t as easy as I thought. That’s why I decided to take matters into my own hands and create an interactive data visualization to help others discover these free museums.
Using Flourish, I created a map view and timeline view to showcase the free museums in NYC. The map view allows you to explore the museums by location, while the timeline view gives you a sense of when each museum is free.
I was determined to make this guide as user-friendly as possible, but I did encounter some limitations with Flourish. One thing I wish I could have done differently was adding a slider to the map view to make it easier to navigate.
Despite the challenges, I’m proud of what I’ve created, and I hope you find it useful. As I continue to learn JavaScript, I’m excited to improve and expand on this project.
So, take a look at the guide and let me know what you think! Have you used a guide like this before? What features would you like to see added?
