The Rise of Machine Translation Post-Editing: Insights from a Localization Service Provider

As the world becomes increasingly interconnected, the demand for language localization services is on the rise. At Alconost, a leading localization service provider, we’ve been tracking the adoption of machine translation post-editing (MTPE) in top localization languages. And the results are fascinating.

Based on our in-house 2024 data, MTPE has finally reached a statistically significant adoption level across our projects. But what’s more interesting is which languages are leading the charge.

## The Top MTPE Languages
Within the top 20 languages by overall demand, MTPE is most often requested for Dutch, Polish, and Traditional Chinese. These languages may not be the most widely spoken, but they’re leading the way in MTPE adoption. In fact, Spanish, Italian, and Brazilian Portuguese are not far behind.

So why are these languages at the forefront of MTPE adoption? Is it a cost-saving measure or a core part of their workflows?

## What This Means for the Industry
While our data isn’t a universal benchmark, it does give us a snapshot of the trends we’re seeing in the localization industry. As MTPE continues to evolve, it’ll be interesting to see how language pairs adapt and change.

## Your Turn
How is MTPE adoption looking on your side? Do you see it as mainly a cost/time-saving measure, or is it becoming a core part of workflows for certain language pairs? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
