I recently stumbled upon a Reddit post that resonated with me. A software tester expressed their frustration about being asked to create an AI tool proof of concept in just a month, on top of their existing workload. I can understand why they felt overwhelmed. As a software tester, their primary responsibility is to test and ensure the quality of software, not to develop AI tools.
It’s concerning to see management pushing AI initiatives without considering the bandwidth and expertise of their team members. This not only leads to burnout but also undermines the quality of work. Software testers are essential to the software development process, and their skills should be valued and utilized effectively.
The pressure to push AI can be overwhelming, especially when it’s not aligned with an individual’s strengths or job description. It’s crucial for management to recognize the importance of their team members’ roles and provide them with the necessary support and resources to excel.
