Have you ever received a random text from a recruiter about a job opportunity that sounds too good to be true? I recently came across a Reddit post from someone who got recruited to work for Starrocks, a company that optimizes data traffic and ranking of apps to attract more users. But here’s the thing: the whole process seemed fishy from the start.
The recruiter reached out to the person via WhatsApp, claiming that they would earn money by helping apps get more downloads. The catch? They needed to share their invitation code, which would give the recruiter 20% of their earnings. Red flag, right?
The person was hesitant, and rightly so. No one provided a LinkedIn profile, and the whole thing seemed shrouded in anonymity. But what really got me thinking was the recruiter’s polite response when the person expressed doubts. If this was a scam, wouldn’t they be more aggressive?
So, is this a legitimate work opportunity or just another clever scam? I’d love to hear from you in the comments: have you had any experiences with Starrocks or similar companies? What do you think about this whole situation?
As someone who’s not familiar with this world, I’m both intrigued and cautious. It’s always important to do your research and trust your instincts when it comes to job opportunities.
