I’ve been noticing a profound irony lately. The same generation that mocked boomers for being resistant to new technologies like smartphones, video games, and the internet is now doing the same thing with Artificial Intelligence. We’re essentially repeating history.
Terms like ‘AI Slop’ are being used to describe the limitations of AI, much like our parents’ generation complained about the early days of the internet. And just like they were skeptical of new technologies, we’re now doing the same with AI. It’s ironic, considering we were the ones telling them to get with the times.
I understand there are valid concerns about AI, like students using it to cheat or companies wanting to replace workers. But the issue isn’t with AI itself; it’s with people misusing it. We need to learn to embrace AI and its potential, rather than fearing it.
After all, didn’t we tell our parents to learn how to use a smartphone or get online? Now it’s our turn to learn about AI and its capabilities. By doing so, we can harness its power to create something greater, like AGI. So, let’s not repeat the mistakes of the past and instead, learn to work with AI.
