I recently had a mind-blowing experience with Windsurf, an AI tool that can build web applications for you. It was like having a super-smart coding partner that could implement code for me, boosting my productivity by a factor of 5 or 10. But then I wondered, why isn’t there a similar tool for data scientists like me?
We have notebook markdown, but it’s not the same. Cursor can’t see the outputs of our graphs, and it doesn’t work seamlessly with Google Collab, where we have access to powerful GPUs. Imagine if we had a tool that could take a prompt like ‘build a predictive model to predict customer churn’ and execute each cell one by one, making plots, studying the data, modifying outliers, and adjusting the plan as it goes. It would be a game-changer for our workflow.
I’d love to build something like this (although I have no idea how, yet!). If you’re interested in collaborating, DM me. The question is, would you use a tool like this in your daily work? Let me know in the comments.
The potential benefits are enormous. We could save hours of tedious work, focus on higher-level thinking, and accelerate our projects. It’s time to bring the power of AI to data science.
