I’m having a blast with AI. Who wouldn’t want to chat, roleplay, or create art with a machine that’s getting smarter by the day? But as I’m having all this fun, a nagging thought keeps creeping into my mind: what if AI sanitization takes all the fun out of it?
In a few years, will AI be reduced to just a tool for mundane tasks like making grocery lists, helping with coding, or auto-ordering stuff from Amazon? Will it become so ‘safe’ and sanitized that we can’t even use it for recreational purposes anymore?
## The Push for Sanitization
It’s no secret that AI companies are working hard to make their products ‘safe’ and ‘professional.’ They’re trying to prevent users from creating NSFW content or engaging in violent roleplay. While these efforts have failed so far, it’s only a matter of time before they find a way to make it impossible.
And once they’ve achieved that, they’ll likely move on to other ‘unintended uses.’ You know, the fun stuff – like roleplaying as your favorite character or creating silly art. These companies want their AIs to be seen as professional tools, not toys for our entertainment.
## The Artistic Backlash
The art and writing communities are already up in arms about AI-generated content. It’s not hard to imagine a future where AI companies make it impossible for their products to create or mimic copyrighted characters or styles. We’re already seeing this with Bing’s image creator, which used to allow Mickey Mouse-inspired art but now refuses to do so.
## A Future Without Fun?
I’m having a great time with AI, but I have a bad feeling that soon we’ll be met with hard refusals whenever we try to do something outside of their intended use. The sanitization of AI will make it so boring and robotic that it won’t be fun anymore.
What do you think? Are we heading towards a future where AI is only used for mundane tasks, and all the fun is sucked out of it?
