Have you noticed that the model picker is gone in ChatGPT? I’m not the only one who’s been switched to GPT-5 without a choice. It turns out that GPT-5 is more like a router that sits on top of multiple models, and we no longer get to pick which one to use.
I’m still trying to wrap my head around this change. I mean, I thought I was in control of the models I used, but it seems that’s no longer the case. The default is now to trust the dispatcher, and I’m not sure how I feel about that.
What does this mean for our workflow? Are we going to have to adapt to using GPT-5 even if we’re not comfortable with it? I’d love to hear your thoughts on this sudden change.
