Hey there, fellow cyber security enthusiasts! I’m stuck in a predicament, and I’d love to hear your thoughts. I left my previous job to dive into cyber security, and it’s been an amazing five-year journey so far. I started as a SOC Analyst, then switched to Penetration Testing, and eventually moved to Consulting. Currently, I’m working in my second company, where I’ve been for about two years now.
The thing is, I wanted to focus more on management and GRC, but since many of my team members left, I’m stuck with their technical tasks. I contacted a recruiter to get a sense of the market, and they advised me to stay put for a while longer due to my frequent job switches in the past. Now, I’m torn between switching again and risking my reputation or waiting it out in my current position.
My ultimate goal is to lead with knowledge from my hands-on experience. I’ve been switching roles to gain expertise and achieve that goal. But, I’m not sure what to do next. Should I take the risk and switch again, or wait and hope that things improve in my current company?
What would you do in my situation? Share your thoughts, and let’s discuss!
