Streamlining Data Gathering with Generative AI

Streamlining Data Gathering with Generative AI

As a developer, I’m sure you’ve been there – stuck in a sea of files and folders, trying to collect and analyze data for a project. Writing scripts and parsers to do this task can be a real pain, especially when you need to consider exceptions, errors, and folder structures. But what if I told you there’s a way to simplify this process using generative AI?

I’m not a fan of ‘vibe coding’ either, but I do appreciate the idea of using Large Language Models (LLMs) to automate repetitive tasks. Imagine being able to ask an AI to write a script that opens up thousands of files, parses them for specific information, and even draws a graph for you. Sounds like a dream, right?

The good news is that tools like ChatGPT can already do this to some extent. However, they need to know the folder structure and examine the files to see what issues there are in collecting this information. The question is, can we make this process even more seamless?

I’d love to see a system where I can simply ask an AI to gather data for me, without having to roll up my sleeves and write code. This would save me hours of time and energy, which I could then use to focus on more important tasks.

So, is it possible to create a ‘vibe data gathering’ system that uses generative AI to automate data collection and analysis? I think it’s an exciting idea worth exploring. What do you think?
