Should I Take the Job? A Tech Newbie’s Dilemma

Hey, have you ever been in a situation where you’re not sure if you’re making the right choice? That’s exactly where I am right now. I’m a Computer Science and Biology student who initially wanted to pursue dental school, but my GPA isn’t exactly impressive. I’ve focused more on the biology side of my degree and even managed to become a second author on two biomedical engineering papers.

However, I’m really weak at coding and don’t know much about it. Since dental school seems unlikely, I’ve been applying for computer science-related internships and, fortunately, landed a tech-related role. But here’s the thing – I’m not sure if this job is a good fit for me or if it will set me up for a successful future in tech.

The job description includes maintaining existing SQL code, troubleshooting issues, maintaining technical documentation, carrying out unit tests, and supporting business users in creating self-service reports. It’s not exactly what software developers usually do, and I’m unsure if it’s the right path for me. On the bright side, the salary is decent for someone with no prior experience.

So, I’m asking for your opinion – should I take the job and try to learn as much as I can, or should I keep looking for something that’s a better fit? I’d love to hear your thoughts on this.
