Hey there! I’m considering taking the next step in my academic journey by pursuing a PhD in Public Health Sciences after completing my MSc in Applied Statistics. My work is encouraging me to go for it part-time, and they’re willing to be flexible with my schedule. What’s more, I’ve got a potential advisor with a strong background in stats and machine learning, which aligns perfectly with my interests.
The idea of doing a PhD in public health sciences really appeals to me because I’d get to stay in a field that I’m passionate about – health and applied sciences. Plus, I’d have the freedom to work wherever I want, without being tied down to tech or finance. But, I do want to make sure I remain a technical person, and that’s where my concerns start to creep in.
Has anyone else out there pursued a similar path? I’d love to hear about your experiences, especially if you’ve managed to balance your technical skills with a PhD in public health sciences. Should I take the leap, or are there other options I’m not considering?
Let me know your thoughts!
