I recently stumbled upon a hidden gem in the Snowflake marketplace – an app called ETL Cost Monitor. As someone who’s worked with Fivetran pipelines, I know how frustrating it can be to deal with billing that feels like a black box. This app is a game-changer. It pulls in Fivetran metadata and breaks down usage by table and connector, giving you a clear view of where your costs are coming from. I was surprised to find that our Salesforce sync was way heavier than expected, with ancient tables still syncing that no one even looks at anymore. The only downside is that it doesn’t support other tools yet, like Hevo and Airbyte. But for Fivetran visibility, this is the clearest view I’ve seen so far. If you’re struggling to make sense of your ETL costs, I highly recommend checking this app out. It could’ve saved me a bunch of money and guesswork if I had this earlier.
