As a self-proclaimed ‘skilled’ software engineer, I stumbled upon n8n and was initially blown away by its simplicity and ease of use. After watching a few YouTube videos, I thought I had found a game-changer. But, as I dug deeper, I started to question its value proposition.
At its core, n8n is a cool way to build nice ‘scripts’ and present complex flows to stakeholders or non-technical team members. However, as I built a relatively simple workflow using n8n, I couldn’t help but think that I could’ve achieved the same result using other programming languages or tools. The process was plagued by small issues and hurdles, and I struggled to integrate it with LLMs to speed up development.
So, I started wondering – what does n8n offer to seasoned programmers like myself? Is it just a nice-to-have tool, or is there something more substantial beneath the surface? Are there any integrations or APIs that are only available through n8n, making it a must-have in our toolkit?
