Is SQL Worth It for Social Science Research?

Hey there! I’m preparing for a PhD in social sciences and I’m wondering if taking a class on SQL would be beneficial for my research. I’ll be working with both qualitative and quantitative data, and I’m curious if SQL skills would be valuable in my field.

From what I’ve learned so far, SQL seems like a powerful tool for managing and analyzing large datasets. But I’m not sure if it’s essential for social science research. Has anyone here used SQL in their research? Was it worth the investment of time and effort?

I’d love to hear about your experiences and any tips you might have for someone just starting out. Is SQL a skill that’s becoming more important in social sciences, or is it still a niche area of expertise?

Thanks in advance for your input!
