From Theory to Practice: Am I Ready to Freelance in AI?

Hey there! I recently completed an in-depth course on Machine Learning and AI, covering a range of topics from Exploratory Data Analysis to Neural Networks and Deep Learning. While I’ve got a solid theoretical foundation, I’m aware that my hands-on coding experience in AI/ML is still limited. I do have 8 years of experience as a software developer, so I’m not new to solving problems with code – just newer to applying it in the AI/ML space.

Now, I’m considering taking the leap into freelancing in AI/ML. But the question is, am I ready? Do I need to build a portfolio of practical projects to strengthen my profile, or can I dive right in? Should I quit my current job to focus on AI freelancing, or is that premature?

If you’re in a similar situation or have transitioned into AI freelancing, I’d love to hear your thoughts and advice. How did you bridge the gap between strong theory and freelance-ready practical skills? What tips can you share on building a successful AI freelancing career?

Let’s discuss!
