As a veteran data scientist pursuing a master’s degree in computer science with a concentration in AI, I’m faced with a dilemma – choosing an elective course that will augment my skills. With a background in data science, I’ve got a solid foundation, but I want to make the most of this opportunity. The options available, however, don’t exactly thrill me.
Data analysis seems like a redundant choice, given my experience. Computer networks could be useful, but I’d rather dive into distributed systems. Intro to cybersecurity might be interesting, but I worry it’ll be too focused on terminology rather than in-depth knowledge. And then there’s object-oriented design, which could refine my programming skills, but I’m not convinced it’s the most valuable skill to upskill on in today’s computer science landscape.
I’d love to hear from others in the field – what elective course would you recommend for someone looking to augment their ML/AI background? Should I take the safe bet with object-oriented design, or is there another option that would be more beneficial in the long run?
Edit: Thanks to the Reddit community, I’ve decided to go with object-oriented design. It’s not the most exciting choice, but it’s better than computer networks, that’s for sure!
