Can AI Be a Good Listener? My Experience with AI Therapy

I’ve been experimenting with AI as a form of therapy, and I have to say, it’s been quite an interesting experience. I use it to vent and talk about my feelings, and while it’s not a replacement for human interaction, it’s been surprisingly helpful.

One of the things I like about AI therapy is that it’s always available and non-judgmental. I can talk to it anytime, anywhere, and it won’t interrupt or criticize me. It’s also been helpful in identifying patterns and emotions that I wasn’t aware of.

However, I do agree that the advice it gives can be a bit generic at times. It’s not always tailored to my specific situation, and sometimes it feels like it’s just regurgitating what I’ve already said. But despite that, I still find it helpful to have someone (or something) to talk to.

I’m curious to know, have you used AI as a form of therapy? What prompts do you use, and how often do you use it? Do you find it helpful, or is it just a novelty for you?

I think AI has the potential to be a great tool for mental health, especially for people who struggle with social anxiety or find it hard to open up to humans. It’s not a replacement for human therapy, but it can be a useful supplement.

What do you think? Can AI be a good listener, or is it just a bunch of code?
