Accessing US Census ACS Data Just Got Easier

Accessing US Census ACS Data Just Got Easier

If you’re like me, you know how valuable US Census data can be. But let’s be real – accessing it can be a real pain, especially for quick, specific queries. And with QuickFacts down, it’s become even more of a challenge.

That’s why I’m excited to share a solution that my team and I have been working on. We’ve built two free tools to make it easier to access and explore US Census ACS data.

## The Tools

We’ve created two tools to help you get the data you need:

### The County Explorer

This is a simple, at-a-glance dashboard that gives you a snapshot of any US county. It’s perfect for getting a quick baseline understanding of a county.

[Check it out](https://counties.cambium.ai/)

### Cambium AI

This is the main tool. It’s a conversational AI that lets you ask detailed questions in plain English and get instant answers. Want to know the median household income in Los Angeles County, CA? Or compare the percentage of renters in Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR? It’s all possible.

[Give it a try](https://app.cambium.ai/)

## Examples of What You Can Ask

* What is the median household income in Los Angeles County, CA?
* Compare the percentage of renters in Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR
* Which county in Florida has the highest population over 65?

## Data Source

All the data comes directly from the American Community Survey (ACS) 5-year estimates and IPUMS. We’re planning to add more datasets in the future.

## Your Feedback Matters

This is a work in progress, and we’d genuinely love to hear your thoughts, feedback, or any features you’d like to see (yes, an API is on the roadmap!).

So go ahead, take the tools for a spin, and let us know what you think!
